I don’t think so. The Codex is currently the most up-to-date documentation. A downloadable version would be a waste of bandwidth.

that’s a bloody good idea – if it exists I haven’t seen it advertised.

@ Fuzzy I don’t think it would be such a bad idea for a downloadable version. Perhaps a type of release that could update it’s contents from the main wiki which announces a new update is available.

It would be a brilliant reference. I mean, you have dictionary.com, but if you don’t have access to the net, you can still take out the dictionary from your drawer to look.

But how many new words are added to dictionary.com everyday? None?
Many plug-ins, hacks and themes are made for WP every week so I think a downloadable documentation wouldn’t quite be possible. Of course, you could make a documentation just for WP w/o plug-ins and such but I guess that wouldn’t be very helpful.

that’s what I meant, a documentation for WP w/o the plug-ins and all that, everything other script I have seen that is remotely popular and updated fairly often comes with one, or one is available for download. Maybe not even one that is updated automatically and pulls info from the main wiki, I just don’t want to have to come here everytime I wanna look at the docs, especially when I’m traveling and working offline, which I do very often, and I am looking at the code, and I don’t get something or I just want to see an explanation for something I see, I could easily open up my downloaded copy and look

Er. Can’t you just store the info offline for later reference?

Well, I have also seen other scripts with a very well written user-friendly and task oriented “user manual” that comes in the zip package.

it would take forver to save the info offline

At the very least, you have a printable list of the general user template tags:
