In WordPress: Options > Writing, scroll down to ‘Update Services’.

(I assume you’re not asking about the technical aspects of rpc pings.)

The basic jist of it is, that Pingomatic has a little script running on it that takes pings it receives and then sends them out to all the ping services it has on it’s list. Someone else can get more technical, if you’d like.

yes im wondering how you can ping it witout having to

    1. let wordpress do it automatically
    2. having to go to the homepage and type in title and url

Ping once manually. The results page will have a link that you can bookmark, or use to ping again, without manually filling things up.

Why wouldn’t you just let WP handle it automatically?

My question is: how does the http://rpc.pingomatic.com/mysite
know which pings I want sent. I have chosen them in the manual pingomatic site. Do they autmatically send the same ones I would send manually with POM?

The automatic ping sent via WP pings all of ping-o-matic’s services.

including the specialized services, like audio blogs?

That is the exact same question I have. This is the only thread I found that asks this?

Pingomatic pings all the services it lists on its website. Simple as that.
