  • I’m trying to install a 2nd wordpress blog on my website but when I try to install it I keep on getting “HTTP Error 404.0 – Not Found”.

This is the information that I get :

    Error Summary
HTTP Error 404.0 – Not Found
The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

    Detailed Error Information
    Module IIS Web Core
    Notification MapRequestHandler
    Handler StaticFile
    Error Code 0x80070002
    Requested URL http://***.com:80/wp-content/install.php
    Physical Path e:\vhosts\pub\default\htdocs\wp-content\install.php
    Logon Method Anonymous
    Logon User Anonymous

I’ve checked my url and folders at least 10 times and the only thing that’s different is the :80 after the .com
My config is set up right, I’ve added the database and a user to that DB with full admin rights and my first blog is working great so I really have no clue about what I’m doing wrong.

  • 404 indicates that the file you are trying to look at isn’t there.

You say “install a 2nd wordpress blog on my website”.

Did you install it in a subfolder off of the root? Which folder?

In anycase, you won’t find anything at /wp-content/install.php.
Try going to /wp-admin/install.php. like mentioned in the detailed installation docs:

Step 5: Run the Install Script
Point your favorite web browser to start the installation script.

If you placed the WordPress files in the root directory, you should visit: http://example.com/wp-admin/install.php
If you placed the WordPress files in a subdirectory called blog, for example, you should visit: http://example.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php

I’m trying to install it in the root directory of a subdomain.
So I put all the files off the unzipped wordpress folder straight into my subdomain.
That last link was a mistype because I was just randomly going by the folders and forgot to fix that when I was typing my post. I get the same error with the wp-admin path.

Could it be because of the subdomain then?
