Hi, I have done something dramatic, and am not sure what... At livingveniceblog.com, I have managed to make the sidebars disappear on the index.php "home" page, but all's well if a single post is selected.

I have deactivated all plug-ins but no change, so I re-activated them again. I upgraded a few plugins but if that was the problem, wouldn't it be the same when a single-post is selected?

I am not an expert coder so other than the plug-ins, I'm not sure where to start. In the meantime my blog is a wreck. :(

If anyone would have a minute to take a look I would be open to any suggestions. Thanks so much...

Try editing index.php and look for <?php get_sidebar();?>. If it's not there, have a look in single.php for the same line. Make a note of it's position in the latter file and then add it to index.php.

Hi, thanks, it is there, in fact. I also notice though that on the index.php page I am only getting one post and no footer...the single.php displays the footer, et. al.

    augh.

Just spotted this at the foot of your index page:

    <!--
Fatal error: Call to undefined function tweet_this_small() in /home/illustra/public_html/livingvenice/wp-content/themes/dailypress/index.php on line 32

That's weird. I saw it at first, but the line is now <-- commented out --> in the index.php source, and I just deactivated the Tweet This plugin again.

It's so strange that for single.php and page.php everything displays just fine.

Downloaded the origninal theme and replace the index.php, everything's back to normal. Will look at the mods and see which is the culprit.

Thanks again for taking a look.
