I recently created a new theme, and in doing so, trashed the formating of my most popular post. So I went in to edit it and clean it up, but I get an "Internal Server Error 500" every time I click the "edit" button. I can Quick Edit easily enough, and the post is still available on the site (although it looks ugly as sin), I just can't edit it.
I'd just recreate it except that I have almost 1000 comments and pingbacks associated with the article and I'd like to salvage them.
Anyone have a suggestion?
Have you tried resetting your custom permalinks to the defaults, saving the updated permalinks, then resetting your custom permalinks back up again?

OK. I reset permalinks to the default and saved. Tried to edit. Same problem.
Then I put the permalinks back. Saved. Tried to edit. Same problem.
So that wasn't it.
Sorry - I was hoping it would reset things back up again. :-(
Anything unusual in your .htaccess file? Have you tried removing the .htaccess file temporarily to see if this has any effect?
