• Hi there,

I’ve recently moved from a Linux to a Windows server and now I’m experiencing several problems with wordpress. As I couldn’t find a solution I chose to create a new topic here.

Since I transferred to the new server, my wordpress has been extremely slow. I’ve already reduced the plugins in use but it had no effect.

Besides the speed problems, my permalinks are all messed up. I read a few topics around here and I did what they recommended. I had to change my permalinks to the default with the post id only, since any of the other options work correctly.
Still, not even with the default permalinks, the site is on 100%. I’m having several problems with my “Older posts” button. For example, when I’m seeing a category and I click “Older posts”, instead of showing me the next page of that category, it takes me to the next page of main. Without the default permalinks, the “Older posts” button doesn’t even work.

Any help on these two matters would be really appreciated.

    Thanks.
    Carlos.

  • wordpress never work perfectly with Windows platform, and that is the reason people choose Linux!

Anyways, try changing the theme, and check if your Next Page issue is solved..

    a) Why on earth would you switch from Linux TO Windows while using WordPress?

    b) If you’re on GoDaddy or some other Windows host that uses IIS instead of Apache: Your permalinks don’t work because you can no longer utilize Apache’s mod_rewrite — so you have to figure out how to get IIS to play nice. This link might help:

Also, don’t forget to clear out your browser’s cache so that you load all new versions of the pages with the links updated.

I needed to change my OS to windows, and I’m not paying two hosts so…

Anyway, I’ll check that link you gave me.
Thanks all for your time and answers.

    Take care.

    Bummer. Good luck.
