    Hi

I've been having some trouble (DB related) upgrading from a previous version of WP to the latest build so I decided it might be easier to create a fresh new WP installation, export the old installations content via the export to XML option in the GUI and then re-import using the import wordpress function in the GUI. But this doesnt seem to work.

This is hosted on a Windows 2003 environmen IIS 6.0 installation, the WP installation is stored under my LAN's DFS.

I have checked things like NTFS permissions but it seems to be an issue with it actually find the path to the file of which I have checked does actuall exist at that location.

I notice in the error message there seems to be a mix of back & forward slashes in the path I'm assuming this there where the problems lie but I'm unesure how to fix it.

I have found a work around for this but it is not ideal....

If I copy the website to the local hdd of the webserver and then run the import it it works fine. Just means I then need to copy it back to its original location after import and do this for every WP install I have.

The importer obviously has problems with UNC paths :(

Hey Kosch, thanks for this post! I have the same situation as you do, so now I'll try it and see if it works for me!

So, my site is hosted through a third party hosting company (ipower)... how do I get to the local hdd of that webserver to run the import? Or is it through the MySQLadmin panel?

I don't think I have the permissions nor capability to insert the link on the webserver, so the only option I could think of was to wipe out all tables and start over (again). And lo and behold, I still get the same function:gzopen issue...

I've checked around other posts on this forum and still no solution... Any help to get my imports up is greatly appreciated!

I guess ONE last option is to retype my import manually... :(:( Which I would be willing to do if this is the ONLY way out.
