    Hi there
I have a well established site which relies on a bit of static content. Last week I updated a profile page (as I have done many times before) and when I published the page the title is there but the content has disappeared from the page and the post edit box.

I am running 2.8.1, Atahualpa latest version and have tried with all plugins disabled.

One thing that I have noticed is that if the page only requires a few lines of text it is OK. A couple of paragraphs though and it won't publish.

What could be causing this problem and more importantly how can I fix it?

    Try this:

Go to the wp-admin and under settings, general:

make consistent the wordpress address (URL) and the Blog address (URL) in relationship to the www:

    E.G. either

    wp url: http://smith.com/wp/
    blog address url: http://smith.com

    OR

    wp url http://www.smith.com/wp
    blog address url: http://www.smith.com

    Some more information.

I have disabled the theme and used both the default and Kubrick - same error.

There seems to be a critical threshhold of number of characters where this problem occurs. If I post a smaller post/page (tested both) it appears fine. Over a certain, unknown limit, the post/page published blank and the edit box changes to a blank form.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

I'm still working on this problem which seems to have affected a number of others too.

If I enter 837 words / 3891 characters / 4725 characters with spaces the whole thing fails. If I enter 400 words / 1908 characters / 2307 characters with spaces it works. The trouble is that this page needs 1200 + words - no options. I have changed the PHP memory limit in my wp-settings file and will now contact my host to see if they will increase it on the server. It's a shared server so I don't know how much luck I'll have meanwhile, I would appreciate any thoughts.

Can you give me an example of one of the pages that displayed this problem and where you had to reduce the text? Also, I assume you're not typing in 850+ words but pasting the content in from somewhere else. So what are you pasting from?

    Try http://www.owairaka.school.nz/board-of-trustees/

I always post content via a notepad file and add formatting later.

Have you tried switching to the default theme to check if this issue is theme-related?

Tried that - with no joy.

This server is still running on php4. I am going to try the same code on a server that's running php5.

... and for the record, two servers that I have access too will not allow a long page / post - both are still running php4.

My own hosting account which is running php5 will happily have a long page - I pasted it in three times for good measure.

I'm going to mark this as resolved and ensure that there are sufficiently descriptive keywords. And contact the hosting provider. The site has to work.

And thanks for the help esmi :)
