• Hi. I was testing eshop with a downloadable products and paypal sandbox. The payment was ok, but I don’t receive any email from eshop plugin with the link of download. Now, I put the plugin in live way, I made a purchase, but I don’t receive the email yet. No one. So, I don’t know why it doesn’t happend. I really apreciate some answer, if I’m making some mistake. I don’t know how to configurate the automatic answer emails, I don’t have any email account in my hosting or my domain. Everything else is working, even the email templates. Thanks.

    that’s what happened:

    1. I don’t receive any email after the purchase from eshop plugin.
    2. The orders are marked as ‘failed’
    3. The payment was made, I receive the founds in my paypal account, and Paypal do send an email to my customer account email and to my seller account email.
    4. In eShop plugin, the currency is the same than in the paypal account: EU.

So, that’s it. I hope you can help me.

    Thanks again.

In the email that you should have received as the seller, from eShop, with a copy of the transaction there should be a clue as to why it failed.

Usually it is when the primary paypal email address does not match the one entered into eShop.

check if there’s any place to configure smtp in your eshop, if not, it should be using your wordpress SMTP configurations. you may have to download the smtp plugin to your wordpress and configure it using a valid SMTP server, if you do not have any for your domain, you can try free email service such as gmail. hope it helps.

thanks lzjimmy – that may also be a concern if there is no access to php mail function.

elfin, I don’t receive any email from eshop, not even as a seller.
I don’t understand the PHP mail, I haven’t cnfigured any email account in wordpress or my domain.
Question: It should be made with an account type email@mydomain.net, or an account gmail or hotmail?
It should be made in wordpress or my domain?
I appreciatte all the help you can give me. Thanks.

ask your hosting company if php mail is available. then let me know, and we’ll see where we go from there.

Hi elfin. I’ve hosting paid with Awardspace. The PHP mail is available, and I create an email account just to try. I installed the plugin for WordPress that recomended lzjimmy: WP-Mail-SMTP. I made a configuration there, but I have not idea if it’s right, I made a test in the eShop, but I still have the same problem: no receiving emails from it.
I put this new email in my paypal account, in the plugin Mail SMTP and in the eShop configuration; everything has the same email. My WP version in 2.8, if this information is necessary to know.
    Thanks again.

Well the problem seems to be with you receiving the email. (by the way default email at paypal needs to match the one entered into eShop).

Presumably you can actually receive all emails sent to the email addresses you enter into the backend of eShop?

Check the spam bin, as well, just in case.

Yes, I can receive all messages, including paypal emails, to the email account I use as a customer. The problem is eShop plugin is not sending any email to the customer or seller. The latest test I’ve made are as a failed order in the eshop control panel. Also, I receive this email in my hosting company:

Default “From” address for scripts sending e-mails

The hosting system provides new feature for beginners that allows them to create simple scripts for sending e-mails (i.e. for contact forms, etc.) without including the required From headers. Currently the system is requiring that all scripts should pass a From header with valid e-mail address that exists in the hosting account, as to authenticate the sender and avoid outgoing e-mails with fake From addresses (SPAM).

The new feature is available in the E-mail Accounts section and allows you to choose one default e-mail account to be used in the From headers of all e-mails that are sent via scripts in your hosting account (for example: PHP scripts using the mail() function). You can change the default e-mail from the E-mail Accounts section if you need to, or set From header in your script and thus customize your scripts to use custom e-mail addresses.

All users who set From headers in their scripts will not be affected by this new feature, as it is applied only if no From e-mail address is provided upon sending.

Additionally, there is a option to include Reply-To header for scripts that send e-mails without From header. The system will take the sender’s e-mail and set it as Reply-To header and then replace the sender with your defailt e-mail account. Thus, simple scripts that do not include information about the sender will be advanced by giving you the opportunity to reply to the sender that was initially set upon sending. If you specify custom Reply-To headers in your script this feature will be ignored and will not overwrite existing headers.

    Best Regards,
    Awardspace.com Team

I really need to resolve this, but I must confesed I’ve no idea what the problem is.
    Thanks again.

An email is only sent to a customer upon a successful payment, I add in a few extra checks within eShop for paypal to ensure things are ok, and sometimes it fails with these checks.

However all purchases, failed or successful, have a copy of the transaction sent to your email address.

If you are no receiving that then I cannot offer any more help. It works for others, works for me and as such I can only put it down to either a mis configuration of eshop, or a hosting issue. Neither of which I can really help you with.

    Hi,
I am a rea; newbie and am trying to set up an estore using wordpress and eshop. Could anyone explain to me step by step what to do so that when a buyer makes a payment he receives an email with the download link.
I have the products uploaded onto pages and the downloads are also uploaded into eshop already.
    Thanks,
    Elana

it’s all handled automatically for you – you don’t need to do anything extra.

    OK,
I see everything is pretty much set up but when I try using the sandbox to test the site I get no emails. Not on the buyer side or the seller side. Both the buyer and seller in the sandbox were set up with real emails of mine.
I do not get anything from eshop or from paypal. Can you help me?
I’d really like to use Eshop. Everything else looks great.
    Thanks
    Elana
