If you're trying to stay anonymous when blogging, reCAPTCHA is your worst enemy.

I just wanted to let everybody know that your anonymity is compromised when you visit websites that use reCAPTCHA or you comment on a blog that uses reCAPTCHA.

When you visit a website that uses reCAPTCHA, reCAPTCHA logs your ACTUAL IP address and the ACTUAL website that you visited. So if you visit a controversial website, OR make a controversial comment on a blog that uses reCAPTCHA, your real IP address is being logged by reCAPTCHA.

Even if you use anonymous web surfing techniques, such as TOR (onion router) or a proxy server, reCAPTCHA goes around this via java and will capture your REAL IP address.

The people at reCAPTCHA do keep this data for undetermined amount of time and could give this information to authorities if they were forced to. So what I'm trying to tell you is that you are NOT anonymous when it comes to reCAPTCHA.

If you care about your privacy when blogging then BAN the use of reCAPTCHA.
