I have just ported my site from MT 3.15 to WP 1.5.

It occurs to me (correct me if I am wrong) that in the process of moving I am going to lose all of my old and faithful RSS readership. I mean, my previous RSS feed was located at:

    http://homefront.silverwarethief.com/index.rdf

and now my new feed is located at:

    http://homefront.silverwarethief.com/feed/

Is there any way I can avoid losing my readers? The simplest solution would be if I could modify WP so it put the RSS feed in the same location as MT previously did. In that manner I think I could continue uninterrupted RSS feed to my readers.

But is it possible to do that?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I’m surprised there hasn’t been more discussion about lost RSS readership from changed location of the RSS feed.

Just a guess but could you not write a re-write rule to have /index.rdf point to /feed?

Okay . . . I am not a real techie but that does sound like a possible solution. Does anyone know if this works? Do readers follow redirects? Second, is it truly the best solution to the problem?

    Informed opinions are welcome.

I don’t think I’ve ever written a re-direct (as I think you meant instead of re-write) so I would appreciate it if someone could supply the syntax which I could paste into my .htaccess

    Thanks
