   Plug-ins: Comment link manager

   When I log in, I notice I have a bunch of comments waiting for moderation. Clicking on them shows it's a bunch of spam. Under discussion, I have, "users must be registered and logged in to comment." selected. If you click to add a comment, it takes you to the login page. The problem is these comments keep showing up waiting to be approved even with no registered users. I'm migrating a blog to this wordpress install and in the process of rebuilding all the older posts, and I'd like to know if I should just stop now and go back to the other software, or am I missing something obvious. Any clues on where to look?

   It appears to be what is called pingback/tackback spam. We can go ahead and consider this a done deal.
