   Im try to use wordpress 2.8.1 on my rootserver. i use wordpress since several years on a webhosting with no problems

   My completly standard rootserver uses:
   MySQL: Server version: 5.1.34-0.dotdeb.0 (Debian)
   PHP: 5.2.9-0.dotdeb.1 with Suhosin-Patch 0.9.7
   mod_rewrite on

   the page navi on a complete new wordpress installation without any plugins IS NOT WORKING.

   i set the count to 3, ive 5 test posts on my blog. there is no pagenavi. wordpress 2.8.1 shows no errors in debug mode.

   its just not working. page navi is invisible.

   What the heck is a "Page Navi"? Could you be more clear?

   What theme are you using? What template tags are you using to generate the Next/Previous links (assuming that's what you're talking about)? FWIW, the Next/Previous navigation works just fine on all of my 2.8 installs/sites.

   I assumed that "pagenavi" was just a k3wl way of say "page navigation". And given that there's 5 posts with settings/reading apparently set to 3, this meant next/previous links.

   As it is, we may never know.....

   i dont mean the plugin. the standard page navigation at the bottom of the posts-site. "forward previous..."

   in that case also the lester chan plugin is not working

   As I said, I've not had any problems with next_posts_link() or previous_posts_link() on any of my 2.8.1 sites.

    its not working with arthemia theme and also not working with NO plugins activated and the standard wp theme

    the webserver runs on a virtual host.

    i migrated recently to this new server.

    i installed wordpress completely new. after that i imported the old main database (wp_posts, wp_users etc...)

    but as i said, the wordpress posts navigation (also the lesterchan plugin) is not working on a completely "naked", new wordpress installation without any themes and plugins.

    "previous" and "last" are not showing up.

    there is absolutely NO ERROR showing up in debug mod. its just not working.

    i really hope some wordpress.org staff could check that cause im using the newest version of mysql php including the newest STANDARD apache

    php_value mysql.trace_mode "0" into the htaccess

    is the answer.
