All my scheduled posts are appearing as "missed" on my blog.
I've seen this before where the DNS on my server failed to point back at me, however the only thing which has changed is the upgrade to 2.9
Anyone else having the same issue since upgrading?
Or is this a tedious job of eliminating the plugins, even though standard publish right now posts work fine?

I'm having the same problem and it also started with 2.9. My scheduled post was missed and re-scheduling won't get it to publish.

Me too. I use scheduling very often and I've had no problem with it. Until upgrading wordpress to 2.9.

Me three...Cannot schedule posts and this is bad as 90% of my posting is done via scheduling. Anyway to roll back?

I have seen "Missed" before, but it seems more frequent with WordPress 2.9.
My workaround with missed posts is to change their status to "Published" through the main "Edit Posts" page. I didn't manage to publish them through the single post page.

Yup, same here. And posting is screwed up as well.

Finally recreated the post and published. Any editing or publishing is painfully slow however. Seems to be just the post page. Other dashboard pages are fine. Keep getting errors including 'mysql has gone away'. Hoping there is a 2.9.1 soon!

Someone has made a PLUG in the will catch any post that was scheduled and then missed, check it out at

I have verified it is working in 2.9. This is good to have because even when the scheduled post is working it would still miss one now and again.

Managed to replicate on my more lightweight blog. About to turn off all the plugins to see if that helps. Although noticing a rather slow all round wp-admin since 2.9

Same thing here. Since I only have a few scheduled posts, it's not earth-shattering, but definitely VERY inconvenient.

Other problem is that I couldn't change the status of the post to "published" in the main "edit" area after seeing the missed post error. The only way to do it is to hit "quick edit" and select "published" as status from there. Odd...

Disabling all plugins on a default theme still didn't work.
Am using the Scheduled M.I.A.s plugin as suggested by @bkushner as a fail safe.

Lots of hair pulling here, one blog is publishing the posts fine, another isn't (two different hosts)--they're getting marked as "missed schedule". I've tried uploading wp-cron.php and cron.php from the previous wp 2.8-x version (where it worked just fine) and no-go.

Disabling plugins didn't help.

Now off to go install yet another plugin (listed above) to see if that helps.

I'm having the same problem. Disabling plugins doesn't help. I depend on the scheduling of posts. This only happened after updating to 2.9.

Your welcome Terry. I post 90% scheduled, 10-20 a day and that plug in has been dead on. Thanks to the developer.

Adding to the list of those experiencing this problem, and another one who relies on being able to schedule posts, for all sorts of reasons. I have been trying to reduce my dependency on plugins, but it looks like another is added to the mix now - thanks for sharing it bkushner.

This is so much fun :)

With every new WordPress release, a new thread about Missed Schedule appears and mentions my plugin.

It was about time they fixed it but ... whatever.

I now have this problem as well - which is so not cool since I have a scheduled for post for every day until December 24th. It's supposed to publish on a specific date but now it's not! I'm going to try that plugin (thanks for the info) but I really wish I didn't have to ADD something else to WP just to make it work like it's SUPPOSED TO!

I hope the lovely WP developers are busy working on a bug fix that will be released soon? *charming grin*

Don't bet on it.
This bug has been there since WP2.7. That's when I started using WordPress.

I didn't had any troubles until 2.9
And about your plugin, when I run it, it gives me problems, a "fatal error" in other plugin named Popularity Contest.

I've had the plugin up since Feb. 20th 2009. Less than 1% downloaders have had problems with it. And never with it but with other plugins that crumble.

Try changing the 0 priority filter to 11 and see if it works.

I think the slow system caused my problem. It turns out that the YARPP plugin was causing a time out error with 2.9. YARPP has fixed that problem so my response time is back to normal.

I am very unhappy camper right now. All my scheduled posts just "missed schedule."

No, I have not switched servers.
No, I did not change any settings anywhere.

Just upgraded to WP 2.9, dutifully.

And, there you go. Every scheduled post is now "missed schedule."

Frustrating.

ptmccain - List your plugins please?

IIRC, every upgrade since 2.6 has had weird effects on the scheduled posts... Not everyone has this problem, mind.

I've not changed/added any plugins since the WP 2.9 upgrade.

Well, scanning the various topics, it doesn't take long to realize that WP 2.9 has really screwed up a lot of blog sites.

WordPress, if you are listening:

(1) How could you release an upgrade that is obviously this problem-filled?

(2) This is is a great way to lose supporters.

The scheduling of posts is essential for my blog and losing that functionality is a huge issue.

Get this fixed, pleased, ASAP. And maybe next time don't release something unless it is really working well.

Well, I deactivated ever one of my plugins and...no dice. Missed schedule still a problem.

Nice. Very nice.

So, how long before I can expect WordPress to fix this issue?

Yes, I am very upset. I live and die by scheduled posts on my blog.

How can I downgrade my installation?
