   The beta version does not display the build (at least not anywere I looked) neither the build date. Would be extremely helpful to see which build I am running presently if I haven't upgraded for a few days.

   Up.

   The issue still exists in 3.1 Alpha - I can't tell which version I am running vs. the version available. It shouldn't be a big deal to display release number (if that's available anywhere) in that "You are using a development version (3.1-alpha). Cool! Please stay updated." message

   The version is displayed in the backend, When there's a new version you'll see a notification about updating your WordPress.

   Thank you, CO, it's not what I was talking about.
   I see it ALL the time, even right after updating.
