   hello,

   using Wordpress.com stats plugin on standalone 2.8.1.

   does this plugin work on standalone installtion?

   if so, can i receive an API for it and where do i get it?

   You get your API key from wordpress.com/profile

   if i am using a standalone wordpress installation - do i need a wordpress.com account? i dont remember signing up for one, hmmm...

   in any case, if not, should i sign up for one, and then get the API to use on the standalone site?

   Yes and yes. That's what you do.

   It's the same for Akismet.
