Set A Single Comment

hello,

im hacking up the comments templates so that on our homepage it displays the latest comment for each of our posts similar to gizmodo.com. I have it showing the comments on the home page… but i cant seem to find where i can modify the sql so that it grabs only 1 comment per post… currently its showing all comments for each post. If someone could just point me in the right direction i would appreciate it.
