I received an email from a customer that said she is getting attacked with trackback spam, and that AKISMET is not handling it as it normally does.
She is getting a message in the upper left hand corner of her screen which says "ERROR: 7 UNKNOWN".
The WP website itself is functioning and appears to display correctly, despite this error.
HOWEVER, when you login, it appears to login, but only displays the message "ERROR: 7 UNKNOWN", and does not display the admin page.
I'm a programmer and competent with Apache, php, mySQL, etc., but not particularly familiar with WordPress.
I've been searching the Internet, WordPress support forums, documentation, etc. for about 2 hours and have not found anything which indicates what this error means, if it is a core WP error, or from a plug-in, or any information about AKISMET errors / problems which may be going on this morning.
So, unless someone here can give me a little bit of guidance about how to approach this, my next step is to download the files in the root directory and start reading the code.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Please accept my apologies if I have missed something obvious. As I said, I'm a programmer, but not familiar with WP -- and, of course, the worst time to learn the code in a software package is when it is broken!
