• Forgive me if this is a repeated question (I have trawled through the support section and haven’t found an answer)…

I am running 2.8.1 with the ‘SyntaxHighlighter Evolved’ plug-in. My problem is TinyMCE striping out all the TAB characters on the blocks of code I am adding to the posts… This is making the readability of the code blocks very poor!

How do I maintain the TAB characters / indentation?

    Anybody…? Thanks in advance…

  • I had the same problem, so I wrote a plugin which uses syntax highlighter but pulls in the code from files rather than including it in the post. If that suits you, it’s available here at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/external-files/

    Feedback appreciated!

Hi, thanks for the reply… It looks like a nifty little plug-in… However it isn’t quite what I was looking for…

All I need/want to do is copy and paste blocks of code into a post and use syntax highlighter to correctly format it…

    Thanks again…

Ok. In ‘10 incredibly cool wordpress shortcodes‘ there’s an example of a [raw] shortcode that skips the wordpress auto-formatting. I have some issues with how they’ve written it, and I’m not sure you could combine it with another shortcode (ie syntax highlighter) but worth trying.

If it doesn’t work, let me know and i’ll see what i can come up with over the weekend.
