  • You much have spent soooo long on that! Thanks Alex, really appreciate it!

Great stuff… Can’t wait to see who comes out on top of this one, there’s some stiff competition!

I think that the real winners are those of us who use one of those themes for our site. Thanks to all of the submitters for doing so much hard work and thanks to Alex for putting this together! I especially like the theme browser!

There is some excellent work there. It’s going to be a tough task to pick out some winners.

I think Alex should announce that everyone’s a winner and they all receive a free copy of WordPress:-)

I agree though that the true winners are the theme users. The more resources the WP community can provide, the more everyone benefits.

I’m sorry Alex, I went through the list and I didn’t find a single theme that jumped out as #1 “The Best”. There are many themes (well over 50) that are equally jaw-dropping and amazing, but because of that, I think the judges have a very tough decision ahead of them.

    @ifelse: I disagree… I think 2 free copies of WP would be a -much- better prize. πŸ˜›

Alex, thanks ever so much for organizing this whole mess and having the patience to actually see it through to the end. (Like I mentioned on the other thread, how many 11:59 entries did you have? πŸ˜‰

I don’t think it’s very important who wins, I mean sure it’s recognition for their work, but the best part of this whole exercise is this – there were very few themes for most users, now they have over 200+, 139 of those having come from the competition itself. Now THAT’s impressive.

On the other hand, perhaps this could be a regular thing – I know Shadow has tried something different with the content competition, and it’s all part of the community spirit, but how about a bi-annual competition?

Be it Alex (though the poor guy is probably knackered by now) or someone else, and I don’t even think the prizes should come into it, just for the sport and fun of it. What’s impressed me is the diveristy of the themes, and the work that has gone into all of them as well as the high level of entires. WHen the comp first started, it was probably a week or two in, and I wondered if themes were harder to make because of the slow start; would there be less themes than there were styles for 1.2? I think the competition response has probably exceeded everyone’s expectations.

Now, who wants to start one for plugins πŸ˜€

I will give out free moose-hugs to all of the participants. If any of them are single females, then I will offer dinner and a some moose-hugs; lots and lots of moose-hugs! πŸ˜‰

    I knew I should have participated! ;(

NM how about if we dress up as chicks if we’re not? I’m kinda hungry

Last year’s Styles competition produced 38 styles (of course there were about 3 before that, so this was very significant), so we eclipsed that by over 100 this time around!

    Zounds !

Alot to quickly go through, but I like many of them. I can see me using several on my blog.

Too bad none of them have ad&d/everquest type middle ages adventures pictures… but I can use the one with the sand dune for that bog.

Some of them are so good I’ll likely go ahead and upgrade the rest of my 1.2.2 blogs to 1.5 to use with my drive-in movie theatre blog and my poetry blog.

    SOme really awesome themes!

chuckblue, I’ve got some fairly nifty “quasi game-ish” pics that I got from a stock-photos-for-free site about 5 years back. You can mail me at sylvermoon (at) gmail (dot) com, I’ll see if I can either send them to you or upload them for download (which I tried to do but won’t allow access…. I’ll try zipping them first and then post back if it works.)

They may not be at all what you’re looking for, but if you can use them, be my guest!

    [Edit: okay – http://vkaryl.net/tmp/graphics.rar

    saved to my jumpdrive.

    I’ll check it later tonight.

    Thanks.
