I need to display PDF files and am not seeing how to do that. I see a lot of PLugins for changing posts to PDF but not for displaying a PDF file. Are they are plugins that do this?

  • Not as far I’m aware. You need a browser add-on such as Acrobat Reader to access online pdfs – so this is something that is best left to your visitors. If you want to assist them, make sure that you provide a link to the free Acrobat Reader download on any pages that contain pdfs.

It sounds like this is unresolved but it seems like it should be so easy.

All I want to do is when visitors open a post, it is the pdf file of an event that someone wants me to publicize.

WordPress does so many things so well, I’m surprised that this is not easy.

you want to turn a post into a pdf file?

is that what you are asking?

If so, thats not something wordpress does.

It’s not something any web site does. They all require that the user/viewer has the Acrobat Reader installed in their browser. This application then takes over the display of the pdf.

you can embed a pdf in a post or page that users can click on to view

Given the choice i’d recommend users to Foxit, much more lightweight…

In any case it will still be down to the user to install the required application to view the file…
