   Tried to install my theme via add new themes in dashboard but it failed

   Now i've uploaded the theme into wp-content/themes
   It's called eGalleryTheme.

   How do I get WordPress to recognise it and use it instead of the default.

   web gurus read the docs. have you read the docs on using themes? thats a pretty basic item.

   remember also you paid for that theme so if theres as problem with it, youre better off to go back to whence you bought it, since we probably dont have a copy handy.
