Having trouble with text wrap on images (6 posts)

    Dear Andreas,

    We recently found 01 theme and have switched to it 2 days ago. Our website looks absolutely great with your design. Thanks! Everything was fine until we realise there are huge gaps between paragraphs when images are aligned around texts. The problem is only seen with IE. With Firefox, everything is OK.

    Example of problem, see link: http://outskirtoutreach.org/orang-asli-natives-malaysia-first-adam-eve-earth/ (view it with IE and Firefox, you'll see the difference)

    We tried removing the below from Stylesheet ...

    /* Float fix */
    .contenttext {overflow:hidden;}
    * html .contenttext {height:1px; overflow:visible;}
    * html .contenttext p {overflow:hidden; width:99%;}

    It worked fine to eradicate the "gap" problem but the theme's white background was shrunk 1-2% on left. Worried, we put back the "float fix" into the stylesheet. Better not mess with anything we don't understand and leave it to the expert.

    The problem isn't consistent. In certain images, with IE, there's no problem. This makes the issue more mind boggling.

    Another problem: For images that we have commanded "align=center", they are still pushed to the left, whether IE or Firefox.

    We are not CSS experts, please forgive us if this sounds too elementary. We love 01 but we really need help.

    Thank you.
    Casey.

    You could start the troubleshooting process by reducing the number of validation errors in your page(s).

    Hi guru esmi,

    Thanks for the tip. However, we are dummies and have no idea what validation error is. Does it has something to do with css html in page, stylesheet or source code?

    There are rules (called "specifications") that dictate how XHTML markup should be used and how it should be displayed by web browsers. If a web site doesn't follow the rules, browsers can have problems displaying the pages. It would a bit like trying to sing a song when the sheet music didn't use standard notations.

    Each validation error is an indication that a given piece of markup hasn't obeyed the rules. If you are having cross-browser display problems, it's usually a good idea to start by validating your site.

    Are you saying there're non-compliances in the theme's source code?

    The result provided in validation errors indicated 17 errors, list xhtml gibberish that we don't see when we go to Wordpress site admin's edit page/post.

    OK, since there are codes that don't obey rules, how do we go about correcting them?

    Thanks!

    Some errors may stem from plugins, some from the theme. But a few look as if they're from the page content.
