    why this there no extension of the permalinks system to generate custom clean url's?

    and allowing use of subdomain and subfolders?

    Not sure what you mean. I have a number of WordPress blogs running either in sub-folders or on sub-domains.

    are you talking about wp-mu?? i am getting different answers from their forums
