• I recently upgraded to WordPress 2.8, hosting platform Amazon. At my old site, I could track visitors and see where they were coming from, how many were visiting, etc. I can’t find access to this on WP2.8. Help! What am I missing?

  • a plugin? a host that provides stats? putting your google analytics code in your theme file(s)?

wordpress has never displayed any sort of stats out of the box. you need a plugin or you need to insert code into your theme files.

If you want to know the key words or phrase that users are searching for and on which search engines on the fly, you can look at the plugin i have installed on my website at http://www.mhchealthcare.com/health/

When someone search for my site using certain key word or phrase I get an email instantly. This keep me on my toe and I know what users are looking for immediately.

If you are looking for stats, I suggest you use Google Analytics or the stats functions provided by your hosting company.

hmmm… my free WordPress did provide stats and tracking. But now that I’m with 2.8 and hosting with Amazon that feature is gone. I am going to be adding Google analytics, so I guess once I get that running I will have stats available again.

    Thanks for your help!

WordPress.com might have had it built in, but now that you’ve converted to self-hosted WordPress, you’ll need to use plugins or third-party tracking services.

For plugins, here are a few:

    Cystats
    StatPress Reloaded
    WordPress.com Stats

    Thank you!!
