I'm new to Wordpress and want to install it on the same server as my current website. Can I design, upload and manage a Wordpress blog in conjunction with my existing website or does my whole website have to become part of Wordpress. Current website is http://wwww.eyerocket.com. Blog doesn't exist yet.
Thanks
Just install WordPress in a sub-folder, such as blog, of your web-root. So you would access the installation routine as http://wwww.eyerocket.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php

Thanks MichaelH,
I have tried uploading all the files into a separate blog file as you suggested, after updating the config.php file with the appropriate DB Name, username and password but to no accord. I even got my ISP provider to work through the details and he couldn't figure it out. We both think we have done everything correctly and still we get a 500 Error Message. I posted a message earlier today to this effect. However, maybe you have some idea as to what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks for your help already.

hi eyerocket,
Are you able to access the more specific error logs from your server, specifically those in /var/log/apache/error.log.
Error 500 is pretty generic and a catch all error, the specific errors from apache.log will be better for diagnostics.
Thanks

Hi tedheich,
It was a server side problem that my ISP resolved. Thanks for all the advice, though.
