• Hi forum.

This is my first post – and I’ve really got no idea what’s going on so any hints and tips would be great.

Here’s an email I got from my host:

    Username 22773 1.2 0.7 129168 8100 ? D 19:39 2:06 | \_ /usr/bin/php /home/username/public_html/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php
    Username 22979 1.0 0.7 126544 7700 ? D 20:09 1:28 | \_ /usr/bin/php /home/username/public_html/index.php

The above lines are both found within the logs.

Now, although they do not mean much, the numbers:

    “1.2 0.7”
    “1.0 0.7”

show the load that those scripts are putting on the server. What adds to this is there are a bucketload of these processes, all with the same load specs, right before the load on the server became too much.

I can only suspect that your site is wordpress and that is has not been updated in some time?

That being said, it is suspected that someone is trying take advantage of any vulnerabilities in WordPress, possibly due to an older version?

Have you updated your wordpress as of late?”

I have updated my wordpress version to 2.8 (I did the day it came out).

I have no idea what would causing irregular traffic and numerous instances of these scripts – any ideas?
