Category Parent not "saving" (7 posts)

I'm assuming that I can associate Categories with Pages. I see the pages listed in the Category Parent drop-down list, but when I select it and "Update Category" it is not being saved. It keeps reverting to the default "none."

    I just set-up the blog http://thedailyvinyl.com/blog/
And the home page looks fine, but when one of the Page titles is clicked (i.e. "Vinyl Videos") it should bring up the post that I saved in the "Vinyl Video" Category.

But it's not. Thanks in advance for your help.

Posts are directly associated with Categories. Not Pages. It may see like a minor distinction but it's an important one. You can use a custom page template to list posts within a certain category but your theme obviously doesn't do that "out of the box". You'd need to create the custom template yourself.

Thanks esmi. I'll take a look at that. I was hoping the relationship was Posts associated with Categories and Categories associated with Pages... but not so, eh?

Ok... so can I ask this question... WHAT GOOD IS A "PAGE" on a Blog, if nothing automatically appears on it? Is there a way to put Categories where the page menu bar is?

Pages are used to display static information on your blog, like About Us, or Contact Us (this is just an example). Some information that never change and remains same for all your posts/categories.

    Hmmm. Ok, thanks ryans149.

Esmi, I made the pageofposts.php file and uploaded it into the wp-admin/ folder. Is this the right place? How do I get the Wordpress to recognize that fle? It didn't seem to have any effect. (In the short-term, I just decided to remove the Pages.) Thanks again!

You create a new page with a title of your choosing and assign your new 'page of posts' template to it.
