• Hi there

When the home page is set to be a page, not a post or series of posts, the sitemap date entry for the home page doesn’t change when the page has changed. So even though I’ve changed SEO configurations and the text etc in the chosen page, the sitemap entry for the homepage is stuck at seven days ago. I think this is why Google is not updating, despite the fact the googlebot is doing its thing and the plugin is notifying google. If it’s told the index page hasn’t changed in a week, it doesn’t bother updating, why should it?

I’d rather not move things around to fake it, but what can I do to jig the revised date of the homepage in the sitemap?

is the site, and the sitemap is here.

    Thanks for your time

The problem is with the “LastChange” field in the sitemap. How is this generated? How can it be changed?

If I fiddle with the xml file myself, and change the date, which I am reluctant to do, won’t the plugin revert to the old date once I rebuild the sitemap?

    Hey,

I have the same problem using WP 2.8 and 3.1.4 xml sitemap.

My front page is setup to be an page, although when I do update it my sitemap shows 1999-11-30 00:00 as the Last Change date.

All other pages created show the proper time .

    What gives?

Nobody else that has a static front page, and using the google xml sitemap plugin is experiencing this same issue?

I can confirm that. I have the same problem. But not all posts are timestamped as 1999-11-30 but only those before March (before latest ~150 posts).
