Hi there,
Try deactivating all your plugins and reactivate WordPress Popular Posts to be sure that it is my plugin and not something else what’s causing the problem. I’m running WordPress 2.8 on one of my blogs and it seems to be running just fine.
Excellent. That did the trick!
Okay, maybe not. I get the same error when I try to edit or create new posts, now. If I deactivate the plugin, I can edit posts again. I does save the edited or new posts, but I get the error every time. Odd.
I have a feeling it must be something about my setup since I also have this problem since upgrading to 2.8:

How odd. It seems that somethign went wrong with WordPress 2.8. Thing is that I also upgraded one of my blogs (the one I used to test my plugin) to the latest version and so far everything is fine (even having multiple plugins running at the same time).
I get the same error, but with a different plugin. So it’s not just this one.
how about pulling thumb image ? to this plugin any one success ?
This seems to have fixed everything for me!
Add this to your htaccess if your host has php4:
AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
AddHandler x-mapp-php5 .php
I ran across the solution while messing with a plugin that requires php5 and I noticed that my website is hosted with php4.
Just set this up a few minutes ago, but everything seems to be running smoothly now. I can enable as many plugins as I want, too. Will report back if I run into any problems down the road.
So nice to have it working properly again. Can’t believe I struggled through that for 3 months! FYI, PHP 4.4.9 is what my host currently uses. Should be fine according to wp requirements, but certain plugins probably prefer php5. http://codex.wordpress.org/Hosting_WordPress
