I use WP internal gallery feature to add galleries of pictures to my posts and it's ease of use and flexibility make it an amazing addition. I just don't get why it has not been done all the way through and just kind of left half a$$ed. I'm talking about inclusion of a gallery into the post by using [gallery] command.
It should be the easiest of things to make sure the gallery thumbs generated have alt tags. I can't wrap my head around the fact that after so many updates, the gallery thumbs still don't come with alt tags. What gives?
Also, since attachment pages are automatically created, allowing ultimate ease of use for end users, why is there no additional navigation on attachment pages? There should be a Previous and Next buttons (as well as Index or something else that would return them to the post page which contains all thumbs) so a surfer can browse through the gallery of pictures without the need to hit the back button and click on another thumb. I just don't get how these fundamental features are skipped with each update. What am I missing here?
Why is the gallery feature there at all if it’s incomplete? And it’s not as if I was talking about some complicated stuff. These are easy things to add. Make the gallery feature complete not half a$$ed. There should be no need for another plug in in order to give galleries the functionality they should have in the first place. And each time there is a new version of WP about to get published and you post the list of features and enhancements, there is a pile of worthless fixes that come with new release yet no one goes to fix this fundamental stuff. How is this possible?
