[resolved] 404 Error for brand new blog when choosing pretty permalinks (6 posts)

    Hi all,

    I have just installed a new blog for a client. It is in a sub directory of the client's hosting with the domain name pointing to this sub directory. Every time I try to change to the Month & Name permalink structure, I get a 404 error when I click on the About Us page. I have uninstalled all plugins and I haven't even uploaded the theme yet.

    There was an .htaccess file generated. I tried deleting it and updating the permlink structure to generated a new file- that didn't work either. Your help would be appreciated- I am stuck.

    Here's the site: http://collierheights.org/

    thanks!

    godaddy is VERY slow in updating whats on the site to whats actually live.

    set the permalinks, than wait. Honestly, some people have reported it being as long as 2 hours.

    See this:

    or this:

    Ive experienced this first-hand, btw, though it wasnt 2 hours, more like 15-20 mins. Messing with them though -- wont make it faster, just slower.

    Whoa! That's a new one for me.

    I just changed the permalink structure. Now it's time to feed the cats and start supper, so this Grasshopper will acquire some patience!

    thank you!

    Indeed they are! I went off and had supper- came back and viola! Happy permalinks!

    A lot of clients use Godaddy; this is one less thing to worry about.

    thank you!

    @oise73
    Glad to see this was resolved! Just wanted to mention that there used to be a delay with .htaccess caching on Go Daddy. We recently implemented a change that now picks up this file immediately.
