Image based post naviagtion

Is is possible to add thumbnails to the navigation ( prev post | next post ) at the bottom of a post page. Also is it possible to show the next two and previous two posts, similar to a image gallery slideshow where you have a line of thumbnails going forward and back.

Is there a plugin that does this, I looked and found nothing.
