Support » Fixing WordPress » Help: WordPress admin cp has vanished!

  • Hey guys,
Am in a bit of a bit. Been using WP since version 2.0 and so far, I’ve always performed manual updates whenever a new version is out. On every occasion, I’ve wiped out everything of the old install except for wp-config.php and the wp-content folder and dumped files from the new version into it and ran wp-admin/upgrade.php.

My most recent update was from WP 2.7.1 to 2.8. I followed the same procedure. And post-install, when I tried to visit wp-admin I got as far as the login screen. Upon entering my login credentials, all I get is a blank screen. I’ve tried this in all the common browsers i.e. FF, IE and Opera with the same results.

Miraculously, my blog is still fully functional but admin cp rendered totally inaccessible.

    What do I do now?

    Thanks,
    m^e

  • you disable your plugins.

    see if that works.

you change to the default theme — and yes you can do that w/o having admin access.

If neither of those work, then you look in your error logs.

blank pages mean there’s been a php error. they show up, in an error log.

@whoami: Thanks a lot dude! That did the trick. Disabled all plugins and activated them one-by-one and got to the culprit. It was an old goog analytics plugin that I was using (sem_google_analytics_….
