I tried upgrading to 2.8 from 2.71, first upgrade since installing WP. After installing all the files following the 3 step upgrade I went to admin page and I received a fatal error.
I then referred to the Extended instructions and figured it may be because I never deactivated the plugins. I attepted to revert to the backup of 2.7 I made and I am still receiving an error:
” Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /homepages/29/d15836/htdocs/TransAmericas/blog/wp-includes/post.php on line 1651 “

Any ideas on how to get my blog functioning again.
    Thanks

Recopied the wp-includes/post.php file and got rid of that error now the error is:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare add_link() (previously declared in /homepages/29/d15836/htdocs/TransAmericas/blog/wp-admin/includes/bookmark.php:17) in /homepages/29/d15836/htdocs/TransAmericas/blog/wp-admin/includes/bookmark.php on line 289

I forgot to mention the blog itself is now available (http://www.trans-americas.com/blog), but I get the above error when I try to login to the admin page, so it’s just the admin page that is inaccessible..
