I dont know if its just me or is the WordPress Codepress Syntax Highlighting (the one that makes theme editing much more easier with the use of color codes) removed?
Have you guys also noticed it here in WordPress 2.8.1?
It seems that the Theme Editor was back to its plain look.
You think so?

It was disabled as seen here in the WP.Trac.
I was trying to find a post on why this has happened but I assume it's to do with the integration being buggy for whatever reason.
I can't find where Ryan Boren said this, but it was something like "hard to diagnose the problems on various servers".
you think they would integrate it back on the next wp updates?
Okay, here's what I read:
http://wordpress.org/development/2009/07/wordpress-2-8-1/
Disabled code highlighting due to browser incompatibilities.

Man that's too bad. CodePress was slightly buggy, and the lag as it "kicked in" was pretty noticeable, but...it's a major improvement over the original theme editor, which I tend to use a lot. They should include it optionally.

I think they should try and find something else than CodePress. It hasn't been developed in ages and doesn't work that well these days.
What about a switch to EditArea (http://tr.im/viMi)?

EditArea would be pretty good actually.

The bespin team is working on a solid browser based editor. It'd be cool to see it integrated in wp fully.
