Upgraded to 2.8 automatically but having problem with site. Was told to upgrade to 2.8.1 but don't know how to get the zip file of 2.8.1 into my WordPress account.

Looking at your blog, it appears that you are getting the error "Error establishing a database connection." I would suggest looking at your wp-config.php file to verify that your mysql database connection information is correct. If you are not sure what your connection information should be, I would then suggest contacting your hosting company for this information.
In regards to transferring a zip file to your blog account, here are two ways of getting the zip of wordpress 2.8.1 onto your wordpress account:
1) FTP -you can use ftp to connect and transfer the file to your blog hosting account. If you do not know these credentials, I would suggest that you request this from your host company
2) SSH - If you have shell access to your blog account, you can just run the following while you're within your home directory:
wget http://wordpress.org/wordpress-2.8.1-beta1.zip
