    Hi Gang,

I'm putting together an educational site for kids that will involve them registering user id's to participate in the various contests, etc. I don't want any identifiable personal information, however, in the profiles -- the stuff like last names, email addresses, and the "about me" section. After *much* searching around the plug ins I haven't found any way of getting rid of those default profile fields.

I've found some good ways of adding fields -- which is great, because the idea with some of the activities is that the users can post scores in these additional fields that could be displayed along with their usernames in a user list. Unfortunately though, as I say, I can't get rid of the profile fields that might present safety/privacy concerns were they filled out.

This is fairly mission critical for what I'd like to do with the site, so I'd really appreciate any help I can get. Best regards.

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for the fast response! Yeah -- I futzed around with cimy for a while to try to do that and then contacted the plug-in author who told me that that isn't part of the functionality. So . . . I guess I'm looking for a hack.

I'm going to go ahead and post a specific hack/workaround question on this. Thanks again!

@adammann33: I've done lots of WP customizing to make it more suitable for use as teacher website. I'm really busy over the next three weeks with summer online teaching, but if you email me and tell me exactly what you want removed from the profile and what version of WP you are using, then I'll hack it out of the code and send you the changed files. If interested, you can email me at: educhalk (at) gmail (dot) com
