• so I just added 2.8 and now all my photo galleries are jacked up. Before I had 3 photos across (columns) all the way down…

now, if the testing I’m doing is right, when I go edit a gallery in the dashboard area and I choose how many columns I want – it is always 1 less — then a random blank space, then more photos.

In the past if I had 9 photos, it would be a nice 3X3 block – 3 columns, 3 rows. Now its 2, then a gap, then 1 photo another gap, then 2 again, then 1… (see Doni and Ray post)

same at either extreme. Selecting 2 columns yeilds one long column all the way down the side… so I don’t see how its a space issue (see “Fun” in May)

please help. how can I fix this!

  • I find that 2.8 has broken the Photo Gallery, too. I haven’t tried posting a new gallery, but in all my posts that included a gallery of clickable thumbnails with the built-in gallery feature of WordPress, at the bottom of the post, there is now a second, vertical, listing of thumbnails and the html code of the post is at the bottom of the page.

It’s only the posts with image galleries that are messed up, everything else is working fine.

The galleries were perfect with 2.7.

I wish I had a “fix” for you, but thought I would at least verify your claim that there is a problem in 2.8.

PS, you can see what I mean if you go to
    http://www.gazehound.com

And click on Nastasi Family Pets in the left sidebar, and then any of the individual animals’ names.

Thanks to Andrew Ozz, who took a look at my site, the problem was discovered to be an incompatibility with a pdf generator plugin. Deactivating that plugin solved my version of the gallery problem.

I have yet to try to create a new gallery, however … so am not sure if this is similar to what the original poster is experiencing.

Thanks – but it doesn’t sound like my problem. Mine is pretty simple, I just don’t know how to fix it. It doesn’t display columns of photos properly. For most of my posts, I’ve chosen 3 columns – and what it gives me is an odd 2-1 line up. 2 photos, then a break then the 3rd photo, the another break. go to my site (listed in original post) and you’ll see what I mean.

I’ve tried the visual editor, adding code to the html editor, altering the media.php file to default to 3 columns…

    nothing works.

oh, and since its still new, I have only one single plug-in – shadowbox to display the photos – it works fine. I deleted it entirely at one point – having zero plug-ins and the columns still didn’t line up properly…

    can anyone help?

Yes, I’d looked initially and did so just now, and see what you mean. I wish I could help, I was just hoping a “sort of related” problem might offer some ideas.

    Hope you find the solution.

Your photos are really excellent, by the way. You have such an artistic eye, congratulations.
