I just did an automatic upgrade to 2.8 and now the pages and all the posts can't be found. I was having a problem with pages not being found before the upgrade, and now the whole site went down. I have disabled all the plugins and that was a no go. I have uninstalled all the admin and includes folders and installed fresh copies.

    The website is at http://www.theweatherobserver.com

On the posts page in the admin area, it says I have all 224 but I can't access them. The same for the pages area. Here is a link to a screen shot of the page. http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/4231/posts.jpg

I am having the same problem after I upgraded to 2.8. All articles and pages route to the home page. To save everyone time--I have tried the the most common fixes:

    + AllowOveride All
    + .htaccess is correct
+ I set to permalinks to the default and back to custom.

Please help. The same thing happened when I upgraded to 2.7. For some reason LoadModule mod_rewrite in was disabled. It is fustrating to have permalinks break after every upgrade....my broken blog is at http://www.pitelspot.com. Thanks for the help.

Have tried to re install 2.8 and everything all day. Nothing still does not work. The permalinks are gone, everything is there on the back end of the site.

I have changed the .htaccess to 777 and reset the permalinks to default and then changed the .htaccess to 644 and still nothing. All the posts, links and everything else is still there but the front of the site will not access it. Is there something else I am missing.

I am thinking about backing up the database and deleting the site and starting all over again. Is this something I should do or not? Don't want to lose over four years of posts and photos.

Richard, downgrading was really simple. Created a post on my blog

    Good luck.

Went back and did just want you said, and installed 2.7.1 and did the database upgrade. Basically the site still can't find any of the posts or pages. The whole site is still there but there is no connection from the posts or pages to the site. Everything is still in the database, but still have a broken site.

Had the same problem - couldn't access my posts using permalinks. After I posted new post on my blog, old post links started work again. So I still don't know what was causing problem, but at least it disapeared for now. May be it will help you too.

Can somebody please example why all the posts are still there in the database, but can't see them on the site? That is the only problem I am having right now.

Fixed the problem, the post status was set to 0 instead of publish. Will work on fixing the pages now.
