• I can’t see any of the formatting controls, I can’t see any of the text already entered previous to the upgrade, and the Visual/HTML tabs don’t work. We can’t write or edit a post on my blog now. What just happened here?

  • If you’re using Firefox and have Google Gears installed, deactivate/delete this add-on. It’s not compatible with Firefox 3 and can cause problems in WordPress.

Otherwise, try deactivating all plugins and check to see if this resolves the problem. If it does, activate the plugins one by one – checking the edit tabs after each re-activation – until you find the problematic plugin(s).

I’m having the exact same issue… Everything was working fine until I upgraded to 2.8 and now I can’t see any of the text from the edit or post screen (if I highlight it I can see it…it’s as if the text is white). None of the options for editing the text are there any longer (no font color, bold, italic, etc…) no formatting tools whatsoever.

I tried deactivating all of my plugins… and I don’t have Google Gears installed and I have tried this with both Firefox and Internet Explorer and it’s a problem in both browsers. I have refreshed, cleared private data, done everything and it still is all screwed up!

This is a HUGE problem for me that I need to get fixed ASAP… Any suggestions anyone? Should I try to revert back to 2.7? Is that easy to do?? If someone can walk me through that or has a fix for this problem in 2.8 that would be very very very helpful!

    Thanks,

    Andy

Same problem .. I dont understand wht happened .. so I deactivated all the plugins, but it still wouldnt work .. 🙁 ..

Add me to the list… I use Firefox and disabled Gears… didn’t help.
Where the editing page is divided into 2 tabs Visual and HTML… The post shows up as HTML on the Visual side and there are no editing buttons on the visual side….

Who’s responsible for this crap ? Did anybody do any honest and real testing on it?

I could probably reinstall 2.7… but it won’t have any updates.

There’s a whole host of others having the same issue (myself included) – posted on this thread: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/278601?replies=11

Crap. I hope I don’t have this problem. I just added the plugins to computer.

delete your wp-admin and wp-includes folder and reinstall a fresh copy that worked for me 🙂
