• Hello, I have just updated wordpress to wordpress 2.8 and the button to save the changes in Settings->General disappeared.

    I can edit something but it cannot be saved.

    What can I do?

  • Try deactivating all plugins and check to see if this resolves the problem. If it does, activate the plugins one by one – checking the post after each re-activation – until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    It’s not an issue with plugins. All the “Save Changes” buttons throughout 2.8 are missing. Just check the topics of these forums.

    so it is a know issue and soon there will be a release to fix it, I understand it right?

    I am baffled as to how this software could have been released with this issue. And these forums are sheer frustration becuase there is, in reality, zero support here.

    I think I found the answer!

    At top right is Screen Options > Enable Accessibility Mode.

    Do that and then you get an “Edit” link on the widgets!

    This enables the Accessbility on the widgets only.

    I am talking about the “general” page here wp-admin/options-general.php

    Here I cannot change anything because there is no save button…

    mine has the same problem after upgrading from 2.7 to 2.8 πŸ™

    Have the same problem with 2.8
    It’s my first installation of wordpress with an empty, new database, so there is no former version, no former data.
    the general settings page looks like cut up from the time-zone selection on downwards.

    Also the sourcecode of the page doesn’t look proper, it ends with:

    </fieldset></td>
    </tr>
    <tr valign="top">
    <th scope="row"><label for="default_role">Standardrolle eines neuen Benutzers</label></th>
    <td>
    <select name="default_role" id="default_role">
    	<option selected='selected' value='subscriber'>Abonnent</option>
    	<option value='administrator'>Administrator</option>
    	<option value='editor'>Editor</option>
    	<option value='author'>Autor</option>
    	<option value='contributor'>Mitarbeiter</option></select>
    </td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <th scope="row"><label for="timezone_string">Zeitzone</label></th>
    <td>

    <select id="timezone_string" name="timezone_string">

    there is nothing like a closing /body or /head tag…

    Ok… looks like it was an transfer-error (or an error in the german language version from http://wordpress-deutschland.org/) in my case. After deleting and new installation of WP (english 2.8) everything looks fine now.

    hello Arestris,
    please try to install the plugin Similar Posts from here http://rmarsh.com/plugins/similar-posts/

    In my case the English version, when this plugin is active will broke like the localized version. TO make it back normal you need to disable the plugin. Please try and we will see if you have the same issue.

    I tried another thing… I installed a completely new WordPress 2.8 localised in Polish and I saw that even without plugins has the problem! So maybe all the localised version have this boring problem!

    For me, plugins were the issue.

    I deactivated all plugins – save button is back.

    I deleted TweetSuite and TweetMyBlog.

    Save button is fine.

    I installed Twitter Tools, and the save button disappeared again.

    Does this version of WP hate twitter?

    I did auto reinstall of 2.8 and it returned to normal ONCE

    next time I refreshed the page it stopped serving page so that time settings, save button do not appear, and click on help does not work even though one can edit but not save the TAGLINE box
