   Hi all,
   I should preface this post with the fact that I have absolutely NO experience in web/code/developing etc. I'm a graphic designer trying to help out a client by setting up a Wordpress site on a tiny budget, so I've been trying to learn how to set it up on a server. It's All New to me!

   Heres my problem:
   (I've trawled through Wordpress Codex and loads of support forums and can't seem to get this working)

   I get to the final install stage for Wordpress, but the install script (?) instructions, where I'm supposed to-
   "Run the WordPress installation script by accessing wp-admin/install.php in your favorite web browser.
   If you installed WordPress in the root directory, you should visit: http://example.com/wp-admin/install.php
   If you installed WordPress in its own subdirectory called blog, for example, you should visit: http://example.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php "
   aren't working for me.
   I get this message:

   Safari can’t open the page “http://ashley.ie/blog/wp-admin/install.php” because it can’t find the server “ashley.ie”

   I've checked over my database set up, uploaded my files, checked my wp-config file and everything else I can think of and it's still not working...

   Maybe you guys can suggest something?

   Where did you upload wordpress to begin with? It doesn't seem you have uploaded it to the right folder on your server because I get an error for everything I've tried.

   Thanks for helping staggsxi.
   So let's see, well, I uploaded the wordpress files via ftp (Fetch) to my hosting server (Blacknight.com) along the to the following path:
   webspace-httpdocs-ashley.ie
   So I uploaded all the files to that ashley.ie folder (or is it called a directory? - I'm on a Mac so I'm not really familiar with that term).
   Does that make sense?

   Uh oh.
   I think I might know what's wrong...

   The client I'm trying to do this for tells me there is an existing holding page on the domain (ashley.ie) so I'm guessing that this is why I'm not able to get the Wordpress install to work using this url...?
