That's a good one. Can I just put the back up files back on my server end import the last XML file?
2.8 doesn't seem to work as it should

I've just downgraded to 2.7.1 myself by downloading the previous version of Wordpress.

And just posted on my blog how to do it. There's also a link at the bottom of that post where you can download WP 2.7.1 RC1 since it's tricky to find online. Most of the links to WP 2.7.1 goes directly here and have been replaced with the new version.

If anyone from Wordpress is reading this, can you please provide us all with a download link for the previous version of WP?? If anyone wants to roll back the upgrade it's a lot of looking around to find it.

The download can be found here.
    Read the post for instructions.

    Should be good.

Try clearing your browser cache and cookies now that you've deactivated all plugins.

The first thing I did when I had problems was going back to PHP 4 because than the site was visible again. Turned PHP 5 on again and we're back in business!!

    Thanx for the tips!

Thanks for the archive link. I couldn't find it earlier when I was looking for the previous version of WP at all.

And my problems wasn't possible to solve either. I cleared the cache, deactivated all plugins, cleared the cache again, rebooted the browser, even the computer. Still couldn't bring up the image uploader, most used tags or get the menus to work in my dashboard.
Got Flash Player 10 installed, so that's not the issue either.

So no panic downgrade here. I just want everything to work.
However, I did like the way 2.8 looked in the back.
I've linked from my blog post to your version archive here instead.

Thanks for the update on that :)

    Oh my GOD!!!!

Croxie, you are the man, or woman! My 2.8 was absolute crap! You saved me with the downgrade instructions on your website. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I will definitely try to help others.

2.8 needs works and I am gonna sit this upgrade out for now.

I think the worst thing about the alleged upgrade is that most of the alleged improvements appear to be no more than cosmetic. For example, the 'improvements' to the Plugins page is a retrograde move back to something like it used to be. Difficult to read and with 2.8, instead of having active/inactive plugins grouped, they're now all together. Clunky and time-consuming to use and difficult to read because of the awful color scheme.

Ditto with the Widgets page. The GUI is now cumbersome and offers no improvement whatsoever.

What is it with programmers? If it ain't broke, why fix it? There was nothing wrong with the 2.7.x interface.

In any case, I solved the plethora of problems with 2.8 by rolling back to 2.7.1 as there were just so many problems with 2.8 inc. RSS feeds, Widgets etc.
