[Plugin: All in One SEO Pack] Plug-In Reveals Hidden WordPress Location? (4 posts)

    Hi,

When I create a WordPress site, I follow the recommendations of some security experts by putting the installation in an obscurely-named folder such as "wp-live-5Gd83", then setting the site URL to point to that (and, of course, putting the appropriate path in index.php at the root level of the site.

Of course, the idea is to keep the inner working of WP hidden.

But, it seems that All In One SEO Pack adds this location to the source file, thus eliminating the security by obscurity that I have set up.

Am I missing something? Is there any way to eliminate this behavior?

    Thanks.

How exactly is All in One SEO Pack revealing the secret location of your WordPress installation? Do you mind giving a link to your site so that we can look at the source code?

Let me clarify that I was mistaken. It was not this plug-in revealing it. The revealed location was adjacent to All In One SEO Pack code, and I misread it.

In summary, the idea of putting your WordPress installation in a directory with an obscure name really isn't such a benefit after all. It may make it harder for automated scans to find a WordPress installation, however the location of the directory is revealed in your page's source code in the links for CSS and other components. One of those links is what I mistakenly thoughts was the work of this plug-in.

Again, let me say...my bad...what I reported was not caused by this plug-in. :-)
