   I have been reading about enabling permalinks and see that as a good way to go to produce more SEO friendly URL's but I'm scared to dig into it. I messed up my blog on the first attempt, and can't afford to break it at the moment. I either need the permalink guide for super-dummies or some handholding, step by every single step instructions. I want to use the Twitter Friendly Links plugin, but it isn't working, and I understand the reason is permalinks. Can someone help me out?

   Yes, have read through this, but it does not constitute permalinks for real dummies.

   OK. So I select a permalink structure- then what?
   Go to home directory and do what specifically?
   This is where I am getting lost.

   What is the specific path to the specific file that I need to edit?

   tcwaters, in your Settings - Permalinks select a permalink layout (except Default, don't select that) and Twitter Friendly Links should be working just fine.
