   That's weird. I just installed 2.7.1 for testing it out and it worked right away. Was my plugin installed into 2.7.1 or you have done it before and now upgraded. Anyway it should work.
   Have you added plugin to sidebar in theme(layout)?

   If you would like your problem to be solved, please be more informative than that.

   Can you add sidebar text in posting view? Does it stay there after saving and reopening post? And so on..
