   I recently wrote how you can keep the subscription box checked by default in Subscribe to comments.

   Before implementing that you can read the discussion where some people support it and some dont.

   Thanks for the post re. how to have the box reticked. Just in case it isn't noticed on your blog, I left a comment re. smart quotes in your code. Once converted back to the normal " variant, all went fine.
