   When writing a post, Firefox open the new window then crashes when I use the 'insert picture' link. What causes this, Firefox or the WP software?

   I'm having the exact same problem. Didn't have it before, but it's just started happening and it's extremely annoying. I'm now having to use either IE or Chrome to edit a post. What's the solution for this?

   Well since this appears to just have started doing this, I think it is safe to assume its a problem with Firefox. Lets just hope it is corrected soon. I have not done any updates to Wordpress plugins or widgets lately, so I think Firefox issues are a good guess at this point. I look forward to following this thread till this is resolved.

   I just started having the same problem although I don't remember updating Firefox recently.

   OK, I think I found the problem. I installed Gears on my XP FF install and it now crashes so it is some sort of conflict between Gears and FF 3.0.10.

   Go to tools > addons and disable gears and your problems should go away.

   Eureka guys! I just found the solution and I can guarantee it works 100 percent! Simply go to Tools > Add-ONs, select Gears and 'Disable' it. Everything will work fine after that.

   And Gears was totally useless to me from day 1. So losing it is not a big deal. If you can't live without Gears, wait for Mozilla and/or Google to fix it.

   thesacredpath's fix worked for me too.

   Disabled Google Gears, restarted FF, and everything is fine now. Too bad, Google Gears is pretty cool... hope there's an update to correct this soon.

   It just started happening to me today but only on my desktop that has XP on it. My laptop with Vista doesn't crash Firefox when I'm adding a photo. Weird.

   Yep...it's Google Gears that's causing the problem. I would never have thought to disable it.

   I don't have it installed on my laptop which is why it wasn't crashing when I used the laptop.

    You all rock, I was ready to through a computer, web-hosting, wordpress out and go back to typing on a typewriter and carbon copy with posting on telephone polls

    Thank you!! Uninstalling the Google Gears did the trick. I love the fact that with a few clicks you can figure something out....before you throw the computer through the window. :)

    I don't have google gears and I still have the crashing problem. Wonder if there is anything else I can do to stop this? Unlike others, I have the same problem with the pic uploader when using Chrome. Also having these problems in IE.

    I just got a new security suite maybe there is a setting I need to change?
