   Hi,

   I keep getting:

   Error 500 - Internal server error
   An internal server error has occured!
   Please try again later.

   When trying to activate the plugin... any suggestions, or is it my provider?

   I have the same problem with 2.8 and any of the plugins that START with WP_ (wp-spamfree, wp_slimstat). I only experience that on my http://www.1and1.com server, which is weird. Don't have the same problem with my other server. But it's way too weird that only the plugins with wp_ in their name cause this problem...

   I'm experiencing the same problem and also use 1and1.com as my host, so it's obviously something to do with their servers config. Should I contact them or the author of WP Security Scan?

   I had the same problem with my 1and1 hosted site. Solved it by adding the following line to the root .htaccess file:

   AddType x-mapp-php5 .php

   It enables php 5. See 1and1's help article on this here.
